Cannons Tour 2026

Cannons, the Los Angeles-based trio, formed in 2013, comprising Michelle Joy on lead vocals, Ryan Clapham on lead guitar, and Paul Davis on drums and synths. Their sound is characterized by a distinctive blend of indie pop, electronic music, and disco influences, often described as “dark pop” or “nu-disco.” Joy’s ethereal, breathy vocals glide over Clapham’s shimmering, reverb-drenched guitar lines, while Davis provides a foundation of pulsing, often danceable, electronic beats and atmospheric synth textures. This sonic palette creates a sensual and often melancholic atmosphere, drawing listeners into their carefully crafted world of nocturnal grooves and introspective lyrics.

Attending a Cannons live show offers a captivating experience that transcends a typical concert. Their stage production, while not overtly flashy, utilizes sophisticated lighting design to enhance the moody and atmospheric qualities of their music, often employing deep blues, purples, and subtle strobes to create an immersive environment. The setlist typically balances their more well-known tracks with deeper cuts, showcasing their musical evolution and providing a dynamic flow that builds and recedes with emotional intensity. They often play in mid-sized venues, like historic theaters or larger clubs, which allows for an intimate connection with the audience while still accommodating a robust sound system that truly brings out the nuances of their electronic-infused sound.

Over their career, Cannons have steadily built a dedicated following and achieved several significant milestones. Their 2019 album, "Shadows," was particularly well-received, featuring tracks that garnered considerable attention and introduced their unique sound to a broader audience. The song "Fire for You" became a signature track, resonating with listeners and becoming a staple of their live performances. They have also made notable appearances at various music festivals, which exposed their distinctive sound to diverse crowds and further solidified their reputation as a compelling live act, capable of captivating large audiences with their understated yet powerful stage presence.

Cannons occupies a unique space within the contemporary music landscape, appealing to fans of indie pop, electronic music, and alternative R&B. Their sound resonates with listeners who appreciate artists like The xx, Chromatics, and Phantogram, as well as those who enjoy the nostalgic yet modern feel of nu-disco. Live, their audience tends to be a diverse mix, ranging from dedicated indie music enthusiasts to those seeking a sophisticated yet danceable evening. Their performances attract individuals who appreciate intricate musical arrangements, atmospheric soundscapes, and a vocalist with a distinct and captivating delivery, all within a generally relaxed and appreciative concert atmosphere.

The atmosphere at their shows is usually quite mellow and appreciative, with attendees often swaying and grooving rather than engaging in high-energy dancing.
